  • When is a fuse finder or circuit finder the right special measuring device?

    A fuse finder is the right tool when a socket or circuit needs to be quickly assigned to the correct circuit breaker or residual current device (RCD). The PAN circuit finder uses a transmitter in the socket and a receiver in the distribution board for this purpose. For long cable runs or fault locations, a cable locator is more suitable; for simple socket wiring, a socket tester is recommended.

  • What is the difference between a PAN cable locator, a PAN cable finder, and a PAN multidetector?

    The PAN cable locator uses an active transmitter and receiver and is designed for single-core, telephone, coaxial, and network cables. It is suitable for targeted cable tracing, break detection, short-circuit detection, and LAN cable testing on RJ45, RJ11, and BNC cables. The input voltage is limited to a maximum of 15 V; this device is not intended for use with 230 V mains voltage.

    The PAN cable finder is the more comprehensive solution for building technology. Designed as a cable locator up to 400 V for electrical, water, and heating lines, it locates breaks, fuses, and circuits, and allows for the assignment of fuses and circuit breakers to sockets. Additionally, it features non-contact voltage testing and can locate water and heating pipes as well as concealed sockets and junction boxes.

    A cable locator is used to systematically locate cable routes, individual conductors, breaks, and short circuits. With the PANCONTROL PAN cable locator, a transmitter injects a signal into the cable, which the receiver then traces. The device is suitable for individual conductors as well as telephone, network, and coaxial cables with RJ45, RJ11, and BNC connectors. Live conductors can also be indicated audibly.
